Sunday, May 14, 2006

This Sunday, Michael M. spoke to us from 1 Corinthians 16:13-24. In his closing, Paul warns the church in Corinth (and every church!) to "watch, stand fast in the faith, be brave, be strong, and let all that you do be done with love."

We continued our meeting Sunday afternoon at Beaver Dam Park, where we celebrated the ordinances of baptism and the Lord's Supper.

Next week, we begin a short series in the Psalms. Alan K. will teach from Psalm 1.

Would you address the topic of direct or special revelation as it was a key to the sermon of 5/14. The sermon was very disturbing and I would hope that many people did not partake of the Lord's Supper unless they had confessed their sins and forgave whatever grievances they had against another. Will the topics of the sermon be addressed in a corporate setting? If not, it would semm that Messiah Baptist Church implicitly approves of what was preached.

I understand your concern about direct/special revelation. Our Sunday morning teaching/preaching time is set aside specifically for exposition and explanation of Scripture. The teaching from 5/14 has been addressed privately and in public. However, if you still have concerns, I would first encourage you to approach the one with whom you have issues. I am sure that any of the pastors would also speak with you concerning this.

In Christ,
